PernMUSH Info

Dyane: Sep 10, 2008 08:58 am Pacific: Tiercel and I are working on figuring out how to sync up all the database files to fix the oddness errors. Even though we seem to be fairly stable connectivity wise at the moment, ISP is sending a tech to take a look at the problem on location. Current timeframe is between now and 6pm ET.

Further developments: Dyane: The network is having issues again. It sporadically seems to allow connectivity to various servers so once it allows it, you can stay on the game. If you leave the game, then sometimes it refuses to let you back in. We're trying to figure out what is going on.

Further further developments: The game may be bouncing connections until tomorrow, as AT&D delayed their trip out until then. Many apologies.

For those who want to hang out until then:

PernMUSH: Temp Hiccups

Dyane: Our router is going flakey. If we reboot it, it allows port fowarding and you can get on the game. However, after a few short moments, it stops forwarding and no one can connect. HOWEVER, if you are on the game, you aren't affected until you timeout or disconnect. I can't get a replacement router until tomorrow afternoon and install it. We should be okay by tomorrow evening. I'm sorry for this small glitch.

Don't let this give you pause. :) The game is just fine. I'm on it right now and it's purdy! :) Thanks for your patience.

Also, try: 4201

PernMUSH (NC)'s policy on doubling up on NCM.

I was asked if it was allowed, so I asked Dyane. Her answer:

Yes. But the character history on NC will be different than the one on NorCon. If the NorCon character gets promoted to let's say an Wi2 but on NC is a wingrider, his rank from NorCon is not accepted here since it is a different game. Does that make sense?

Those people who have migrated and said they have retired [...] lost their status on the game because they have retired and new people have been put in place. If they want to come back, they are welcome to but they come back as normal riders/weyrlings and have to transfer back in since they said they were leaving, i.e. transferring out. It is the same thing as if they retired and left the game altogether.

It's nothing different than what normally happens. People leave, new people are put in place. If people tell us they are leaving, then new people get put in place faster. :) Same thing. We don't do idledesting every three months since our space issues aren't bad but we do try to @idledest every 3-6 months of inactivity so that will happen again.

We're so not going to be if you play on the other game, you can't play here. That would be absolutely ridiculous. :P

My reasons for eschewing NCM. (Crossposted from A'riste's LJ.)

For several reasons and with much regret, I will not, so far as I know, be moving there.Collapse )

N'thei's correspondence with me, which he gave permission to post.

Unfortunately, I have since been told by multiple sources (and generally apolitical players) that he has at least lied about knowing about Tiriana's dislike of Igen.

If someone has to lie about his reasons and his actions, then I consider the legitimacy of those things in question.

Some of these logs...

Are set to friends-only (upon request). If you want to read them, please add me as one, let me know who you are on PernMUSH, and I'll add you back.

Said logs may contain info that's not known to the general public. While I think that anyone on my friendslist is cool enough to know better, I must ask that the resulting OOC knowledge of IC info gleaned from what's read here never be used IC unless it comes up IC.

A'deth is often given secrets to keep, and it's not always obvious what is and what isn't one; if a character didn't say it to yours, just assume that yours doesn't know it.

PernMUSH Update!

Dyane pops on quickly and gives an update re PernMUSH. We are moving the game to a new machine in a new location completely to get it fully out of RR's reach. Our goal is to get it up and running by early next week. I just returned from vacation so I now can get working on the new machine/location. To reassure all, we managed to get the hard drive up long enough to get another copy of the database so we should be uptodate from the day of the outage. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
